Jewell Tone's 12-week drama program will introduce children aged 8-11 to the basic elements of theater arts. We will cover many aspects of performance and production, allowing children exposure to a wide array of activities, including acting, directing, performance, script/scene writing, improvisation, scene and costume construction, and exposure to sound and lighting techniques. We will encourage your child to unleash his/her dramatic side through drama games and creative lessons. Participants will practice and perform a scene in the last weeks of the program. Our intent is to provide children with an understanding of the varied roles that theater workers may play, both on stage and behind the scenes, and provide them with many of the skills needed to participate in a larger production, either with school or community theater groups or with Jewell Tone at a future date. Most importantly, we want your child to have fun and develop a love of the theater!
We encourage children to participate at their level and believe that their exposure to theater in an inviting, inclusive and nurturing environment will add to their growth. Participation in theater arts is a great way to help your child build his/her confidence.
Through participation in drama and theater arts, children gain skills and confidence in the following areas:
Creative Problem-Solving Abilities
... just to name a few!
